The Yew Tree is a refined countryside pub in Maidstone, Kent, where heritage meets modern sophistication. Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Sandling area, we have created a space that celebrates the very best of English country dining.
Our pub combines the warmth and character of a traditional English country pub with the elegance and attention to detail you would expect from a fine dining establishment. From our carefully curated wine list to our thoughtfully designed interiors, every element reflects our commitment to an experience that is both welcoming and exceptional.
Whether you are here for a casual lunch, a special celebration, or an evening of fine dining, you will find an atmosphere that is refined without being stuffy, and warm without compromising on quality. Family run by Giuseppe and Farli Mundula, The Yew Tree is a genuine labour of love, and it shows in every detail.
Every good pub has a story. Here is how ours took root in Sandling, and how it has branched out since new hands took it on.
Tucked under the trees on Grange Lane, The Yew Tree had long been a part of Sandling life. Characterful, welcoming and quietly loved by the village, it was a place with real potential waiting to be drawn out.
At the end of September 2024, Giuseppe and Farli Mundula reopened The Yew Tree as a family run pub and restaurant, with a simple promise: keep everything people loved about their local, and raise the bar on the food, the drinks and the welcome.
The whole pub had a complete refurbishment before the doors reopened, including a small extension to the restaurant. Deep green walls, candlelight and a snug, well stocked bar, smartened up without ever losing the easy feel of a village pub you can walk into in your boots.
A seasonal British menu built on the best Kentish produce, from aged steaks and fresh fish to the Sunday lunch that started booking up almost as soon as it launched. Word travelled quickly across Kent.
Live music most weekends, with Farli herself on the soul and motown, fortnightly quiz nights and a garden made for celebrating. Birthdays, weddings and wakes, Christmas parties and long summer lunches, the gatherings a village pub is built for.
Today The Yew Tree is a country pub and dining room that feels genuinely special without ever feeling stuffy. Open seven days a week from noon, children and dogs always welcome, and a family who treat every guest like one of their own.
Food served from 12pm, seven days a week.
